Things were so overgrown that we ended up hauling away over four tons of yard waste; it's definitely one of the more tedious parts of the job.

This bush was particularly tenacious, but we managed to get the best of it. Over the course of the yard rehab we've come across a bunch of challenges like this. The Hankins always come out on top, though.

Trimming the pine tree in the front yard. A lot of the lower branches in this tree are dead, so pruning them will help the tree. This is the beginning of the "clearing out" phase- pulling all the weeds and vines, trimming, and exposing the soil for the new garden. I've also sprayed weed and grass killer on all exposed areas. You wouldn't believe how huge and healthy some of these weeds are!

I took this video on a recent trip to Bolivia and this is the first of three parts. This is an improved version of the part one I already uploaded.
